Brengun 1:144 latrine is a small diorama accessory for field airfield scenes in 1:144 scale. It is not an airplane model or a kit but an element that gives a base with a model believable surroundings.
Responsibility details are not available.
A simple field latrine, that is the kind of wooden hut that stood at the edge of field airfields and rear positions. In 1:144 scale it is a small object whose purpose is to fill an empty area of the base and give the scene scale. From a commonly known object a viewer immediately judges how big the aircraft standing beside it is. It is not a model kit but a diorama accessory from the Czech maker Brengun.
Objects of this kind were in reality placed away from taxiways and parking areas, usually at the edge of the site, by a stand of trees or behind a tent camp. In the final composition they therefore belong more in the middle distance. They suit the foreground only when the whole scene is conceived as a view of the rear area rather than of a hardstand with an aircraft.
First clear the parts of casting remnants or of protrusions around the edges and sand the surfaces lightly with fine paper. Apply a thin primer before painting. In this scale there is no point in drawing wood plank by plank; a base gray-brown tone looks more convincing, then a dark wash run into the joints and finally a light dry brush in a paler shade along the edges. Dust the lower part with a pigment in the color of the surrounding soil so that the hut does not look as if it were set down on a lawn. Seat it into the base so that it stands level and its footing disappears into the terrain. A small object of this kind takes more wear than an aircraft; it is precisely the contrast between a clean machine and a shabby rear area that makes a scene come alive.
This is a diorama accessory, not a model kit. The base, groundwork material and paints are not included in the package.
