Resin castings reproducing the standard reinforced concrete fence designated PO-3. The set consists of individual fence slabs and separate footings, so you determine the length and the shape of the fencing yourself according to the plan of the scene. The manufacturer offers several types of fencing side by side, because in practice they differ in the shape and the relief of the slabs, and a modeler can thus choose the variant matching the real subject. The set is not a model of an airplane or a vehicle; it is a diorama accessory in 1:144 scale.
Precast fencing of this kind is formed by cast concrete slabs set into separate footings. The system came about for the sake of quickly erecting great lengths of fence without having to build foundations, which was an advantage at airfields, storage and repair compounds, industrial works and construction sites. The units stayed in service for decades, so on dioramas you will use them for scenes from the postwar period right up to today. On a model in a small scale the fence has one more function: it gives the viewer the scale of the whole scene.
Wash the castings in lukewarm water with dish soap because of the residues of release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw and level the surfaces; do the sanding of resin wet and with respiratory protection. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Never paint concrete in one flat shade: start with a medium gray, add irregular light and dark areas, apply a dark wash in the joints and accent the edges with a dry brush. Apply dust and greenery at the foot of the fence with pigments, so that the element looks set into the terrain rather than placed on it.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
