A precise metal set from the Polish manufacturer Aber that replaces the coarse plastic smoke dischargers on models of German armored vehicles of the Second World War in the large 1:16 scale. According to the name it suits types such as the Tiger I, the Panther in the D version, the Puma armored car, the Luchs reconnaissance vehicle or the StuG III assault gun in the G version. It is not a model of a vehicle but an upgrade accessory for a kit.
The launchers for smoke candles were mounted on German armored vehicles of the first half of the war in threes on the sides of the turret or the hull and served for screening a vehicle quickly with a smoke cloud. They are small but readily visible parts of a silhouette. In the large 1:16 scale plastic copies are usually too thick, have blunt edges and solid mouths of the tubes, which catches the eye at once on a model the size of a shoebox. A metal replacement offers thin walls, sharp edges of the brackets and a clean profile that cannot be achieved with molded plastic.
Separate the etched parts with a sharp knife on a hard surface, not with nippers, as otherwise they bend. Make the bends in a bending tool or between two blades, always against the marked groove and in one movement. Degrease the metal parts with alcohol before gluing. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue, and joints under mechanical load can be soldered with tin. Before painting, a primer intended for metal is essential, as otherwise the paint will chip off during handling. Cut the original plastic dischargers off the model and sand the area under them level, so that the new set seats. Work over a tray with a raised rim, as small parts are fond of disappearing.
The set is an accessory for a kit, not a model in its own right. It is supplied unpainted and without a model of the vehicle.
