Trumpeter 1:200 Supermarine Walrus Float Plane is a package of five plastic kits of the British amphibian. It is most often used as the shipboard aircraft for warship models.
Responsibility details are not available.
The package holds five identical injection-molded plastic kits of the British Supermarine Walrus amphibian in 1:200 scale. In this scale they are small models that serve above all as the catapult aircraft on the decks of cruiser and battleship models. Besides the plastic parts, photo-etched parts are included that replace the thinnest interplane struts and sharpen the silhouette of the biplane.
The Supermarine Walrus was a British single-engine amphibious biplane with a pusher propeller that came about in the 1930s. It flew from land bases, from the water and from the catapults of large surface ships. During the Second World War it served for maritime reconnaissance, for observation and the correction of artillery fire and above all for finding and picking up downed airmen from the sea. Its sturdy structure and its ability to land even on a rough surface made it one of the most useful auxiliary aircraft of its day.
The parts are very small in this scale, so it pays to work with a sharp scalpel, tweezers and a magnifier. Use thin liquid cement on the plastic, and glue the photo-etched struts with a thicker gel cyanoacrylate, which leaves time to set the part in place. Spray the models with a base color first and only then deal with the shades; an airbrush at reduced pressure gives a cleaner result than a brush. On aircraft placed on a ship model it pays to keep the weathering in check, otherwise the small silhouette falls apart to the eye.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
