The deep-sea mech extends the retro science fiction world of the Front46 range with an underwater line. This kit in 1:24 scale from the manufacturer MAiM is supplied as a set of unpainted castings, and it is precisely the massive machinery of the subject that makes it a tempting canvas for anyone who enjoys weathering metal, rust and wet surfaces.
Front46 is the manufacturer MAiM's own series: a retro science fiction world that combines the aesthetic of the middle of the twentieth century with fantastic machinery, with walking machines, pressure suits and alternative armament. The deep-sea mech brings the atmosphere of heavy underwater industry into this universe: a machine built for pressure, darkness and salt water, which might just have climbed out of the depths onto a rusty deck.
Wash the parts to remove the mold release agent, cut off the casting blocks and bond the joints with super glue. In terms of color, dark metallic shades come out well, filled out with brass and copper details on the viewing ports and the valves. Then comes the most enjoyable part: salt blooms with light filters, rust streaks, algae and deposits with pigments and, at the end, gloss clear in the recesses for the impression of a wet machine. A diorama with a jetty, a crane or a figure of an operator in 1:24 scale will complete the story.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
