A finished scaled-down model of the M4A1 carbine with a RIS-type rail handguard, done in 1:3 scale. The model is assembled and painted at the factory, so nothing has to be glued or sprayed. It is not a functional weapon but a collector item for display.
The M4A1 is the shortened carbine variant of the American 5.56 mm assault rifle with a telescoping stock. The abbreviation RIS denotes a rail handguard system, that is a split handguard fitted with standardized rails on several sides. These allow optics, a flashlight, a laser pointer, a front grip or other accessories to be attached without altering the weapon. It was this system that turned the rifle from a fixed assembly into a modular platform that can be fitted out according to the task. Its external mark is the angular handguard with the pronounced teeth of the rails, which differs markedly from the smooth triangular handguard of the older versions.
The reduction to 1:3 brings out precisely the layout of the rail handguard, which would be lost at small modeling scales. The model is ready to be displayed at once on a shelf or in a flat display case. The rails are the finest part of the whole exhibit, so do not press on them and avoid a cloth when cleaning, as it would catch on them. Remove the dust with a dry soft brush. Do not use solvents, spirit or preserving oils and do not leave the model in direct sun.
The model is supplied finished, assembled and painted. It is not a functional weapon; the model does not fire and is not intended for children.
