Aviattic 1:32 four-color lozenge pattern for upper surfaces (brown varnish) — a decal sheet with full-width German polygon camouflage in shades darkened by a brownish protective varnish.
Responsibility details are not available.
This Aviattic decal sheet in 1:32 scale carries the full-width four-color polygon pattern for the upper surfaces of models of German First World War aircraft — in the brown varnish variant, which captures fabric clear coated with a brownish protective varnish.
Printed fabric on aircraft was commonly given a coat of dope and protective varnish. That yellowed and browned over time, so the original shades of the polygons took on a warm, darkened cast. This variant of the pattern therefore suits machines that went through maintenance in field conditions excellently — between the factory clean and the faded version it represents a third, very picturesque state of the covering. The warm cast at the same time ties the model together beautifully with the wooden and metal areas of the airframe, so the finished machine looks coherent.
Lay the decal down in sections on a gloss base; the warm tone comes out well if you do not put too cold a shade under it. Let the softener draw the printing fully onto the ribs and, once dry, seal the surface with a satin varnish — a semi-gloss supports the impression of varnished fabric.
A decal sheet is an add-on — neither the model nor varnishes are included in the package.
