Two states of one machine on a single sheet: the Lancaster Mk X version with the nickname Exterminator in its wartime finish as well as in the form it was later given during restoration. Decals for 1:32 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
What is unusual about this sheet is that it does not offer two aircraft but two time layers of markings. The first matches the wartime finish, as the machine looked in operational service. The second captures its appearance after restoration, that is the state the airframe was brought to much later, when it no longer flew against an enemy but served as a memorial. A pair of serial numbers belongs to this, KB753 and KB732.
The designation Mk X belonged to Lancasters from the Canadian production line. They differed from British examples mainly in engines of licensed manufacture and gradually in the shape of the upper gun turret cover as well. Canadian crews flew them within No. 6 Group of Bomber Command, and after the war a number of these airframes carried crews back across the ocean, which is one of the reasons a fair number of them have survived.
Decide in advance which of the two sets of markings you want to build. The finishes differ not only in codes but in the overall shade of the airframe, and the painting of the model therefore has to be subordinated to the variant chosen. Only onto finished gloss varnish do the waterslide decals come. Anyone who wants both appearances has to reach for two kits, because one airframe carries only one finish and it cannot be reprinted afterward.
