About product

An aircraft from two countries at once

The SEPECAT Jaguar is one of the few combat aircraft that were from the outset the joint work of two governments. The British and French sides agreed on the program in 1965 and entrusted its management to the SEPECAT consortium, whose name is an abbreviation for the European company for the production of a training and tactical combat aircraft. The first British prototype, designated S-06 with the fuselage number XW560, took to the air at the end of 1969.

Service with the Royal Air Force

The machine entered the regular armament of the Royal Air Force in 1974. It was designed for attacks on ground targets and for reconnaissance, and in both roles it lasted with the British squadrons for more than three decades. Both the French and the British air forces eventually withdrew the type, but its operational career did not end with that: Jaguars still fly in other parts of the world today, namely in Oman and in India.

The camouflage variant

This sheet is tied precisely to the periods when the British machines wore the classic camouflage finish, not the later desert or gray scheme. The modeler therefore gets markings matching the typical guise of the aircraft in the European theater.

What the Jaguar was built for

The design came out of a requirement for a machine that could handle low flight over terrain with a heavy load of stores and still make do with a short, rough runway. From that come the high-set wings, the robust landing gear with large wheels and the pair of smaller engines instead of one large one. It was precisely thanks to this toughness that the type kept its place in service even at a time when more modern designs surpassed it on paper.

Form and what to add

The contents of the package are a printed sheet prepared for transfer in water. The Jaguar kit in 1:32 scale and the clear coats for the camouflage finish are not bought together with it.
