Aviattic 1:32 Fokker D.VII (Albatros): a four-color lozenge for the tail surfaces with pink rib tapes. A decal sheet on a clear backing with a faithful texture of printed fabric and the striking, historically documented detail of pink tapes.
Responsibility details are not available.
This Aviattic decal sheet brings a four-color lozenge pattern for the tail surfaces of the Fokker D.VII of licensed Albatros build, this time combined with pink rib tapes. The light pink, almost salmon tone of the tapes is surprising at first sight, yet it is a historically documented solution in dyed fabric that gives a model an unmistakable character. The pattern is printed on a clear decal backing, so you tune the final tone with the color of the base laid down.
The Fokker D.VII of 1918 is regarded as the peak of German fighter design in the First World War. Because of the enormous demand, licensed production ran at the Albatros and OAW works alongside the parent factory, and each maker kept small differences in its workmanship, from the painting of details to the color of the tapes overlaying the ribs and the seams of the fabric. A subdued four-color lozenge combined with colored tapes is among the most interesting schemes of the whole war.
A glossy, uniformly sprayed base is essential with a clear print, because an uneven base would show through. Settle the segments with softener and pierce and push out any air bubbles, otherwise silvered spots will appear once they are dry. Apply the pink tapes last and measure their positions out in advance. A final matte or satin clear coat unifies everything, both in color and visually.
This is a decal accessory, not a kit: the model, the paints and the glue are not included in the package.
