The Libyan desert of 1942 and 1943 on one sheet: the markings of two Liberators, Prince Charming and Doc with the second name Northern Star. Decals for 1:32 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
Bases in North Africa meant an entirely different kind of operation for American four engine units than English airfields with concrete runways. Sand got into the cylinders and into bearing surfaces, engines wore out faster and maintenance went on under tarpaulins or in the open air. From here the machines of the 343rd Squadron under the 98th Bombardment Group took off against targets in southern Europe, and from here the pair of aircraft worked up on this sheet also comes.
The first carries the name Prince Charming and serial number 42-40082; the second carries the pair of names Doc and Northern Star with serial number 41-11921. Both aircraft belonged to the same squadron and therefore carried the same tactical markings, but they differ in nose art and numbers, which is exactly what the sheet brings.
Working from the largest motifs to the small lettering and letting the film cure thoroughly between individual steps is advisable. Large decals in a big scale forgive fewer mistakes than small ones, because every ripple is visible on a finished model. It helps to look the sheet over against the light before cutting and to establish where the edge of the carrier film runs.
