Precisely shaped self-adhesive masks from the Czech manufacturer Eduard for a model of the Curtiss P-40M fighter in the large 1:32 scale. The set serves to cover the cockpit glazing while spraying, so that the framing comes out sharp and straight. In a large scale that counts twice over, because every inaccuracy is clearly visible on the finished model. This is the standard form, masking the glazing from the outside. The set is not a model of the aircraft or a kit; it is an accessory for painting a finished model.
The Curtiss P-40 was a single-engine fighter with a liquid-cooled V12 engine and a characteristic radiator under the front of the fuselage. The P-40M version belongs to the later forms of the family, it was powered by an Allison engine, and it can be told from the earlier versions at first glance by the arrangement of the cooling gills in the front fuselage. In service with the British Commonwealth, machines of this generation carried the name Kittyhawk. The type was used on many fronts as a fighter and as a ground attack aircraft.
Clean and degrease the glazing, stick the mask exactly onto the framing and press the edges down with a toothpick. Apply the paint in thin layers, as a heavy layer readily tears when the mask is peeled off. Peel the mask away slowly at a sharp angle while the paint has only flashed off. In 1:32 scale it pays to spray the framing first in the interior color and only then in the outer camouflage shade, as the result then looks more faithful.
This is an accessory for a model, not a model of an aircraft. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package. Check that it matches your particular kit before buying.
