A set of precisely shaped self-adhesive masks from the Czech manufacturer Eduard for a model of the Curtiss P-40M in the large 1:32 scale. The TFace designation means that the set contains masks for both sides of the glazing, the inside included. In a large scale, where the cockpit tends to be open and the interior clearly visible, that is a fundamental difference from the standard version. The set is not a model of the aircraft; it is an accessory for painting a finished model.
The Curtiss P-40 was a single-engine fighter with a liquid-cooled V12 engine and a conspicuous radiator under the front of the fuselage. The P-40M version belongs to the later forms of the family with an Allison engine, and it can be told from the older versions by the arrangement of the cooling gills in the front fuselage. With the British Commonwealth, machines of this generation were designated Kittyhawk. The aircraft was deployed as a fighter and as a ground attack machine on a number of fronts.
Stick the inner masks on before you close or glue the cockpit canopy. Clean and degrease the glazing beforehand, and press the edges of the masks down with a toothpick. Apply the paint in thin layers, as a heavy application readily tears when the mask is peeled off. Take the mask off slowly and at a sharp angle while the paint has only flashed off. The framing on the inside is usually sprayed in the interior color, and only from the outside in the camouflage shade.
This is an accessory for a model, not a model of an aircraft. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package. Check that it matches your particular kit before buying.
