Decals 1:32 JG 5 over the Far North — a decal sheet from the Czech manufacturer AML with markings for the aircraft of the fighter wing JG 5, which operated beyond the Arctic Circle.
Responsibility details are not available.
This decal sheet in 1:32 scale from AML brings markings for the aircraft of the fighter wing JG 5, a unit operating on the northernmost sector of the European theaters of the Second World War. The large scale lets the distinctive polar camouflage schemes and the unit emblems come into their own.
The JG 5 wing, known by the name Eismeer, operated from bases in Norway and northern Finland. Its pilots fought above the Arctic Circle, in a landscape of fjords, tundra and polar night, where the cold complicated both maintenance and flying itself. The unit operated among other things against the air force in the Murmansk area and against the Allied convoys heading for the northern ports. The JG 5 aircraft often carried bold and photogenic finishes, which makes them a rewarding subject for large scales.
In a large scale the details stand out, and so do the mistakes. Apply them therefore on a faultlessly gloss base and settle the larger subjects with plenty of water so that they can be positioned. Let the decal softener work and do not move the decal any more once it starts to soften. Once dry, coat over and choose any weathering sparingly so that the markings stay legible.
This is a decal sheet; the aircraft model is not included in the package.
