1:32 F-16C Gridiron Viper is a decal sheet from the Two Bobs brand with markings for an F-16C machine with a motif inspired by American football. It is not a model, but an accessory for a kit in 1:32 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The sheet from the American maker Two Bobs offers markings for a single-seat F-16C with a finish whose motif refers to American football — the word gridiron is a colloquial term for the playing surface of that sport. Viper, in turn, is the nickname that F-16 pilots themselves use. The package holds decals only; the Fighting Falcon kit in 1:32 scale has to be your own.
The General Dynamics F-16 is a single-engine light multi-role fighter with a bubble canopy with no transverse frame and with a side-stick controller instead of a conventional stick. The C version is single-seat and went through several production batches during its service, differing in avionics and in the shape of the dorsal spine. Special finishes for unit anniversaries or for local sporting occasions are regular practice with American air units, and they are usually carried only briefly.
With prominent finishes the rule is that the surface underneath has to be flawless — a decal will not save anything, it will rather emphasize every irregularity. Spray smooth gloss clear, and once it has dried, polish it if need be with very fine abrasive paper and remove the dust. Trim the elements close to the artwork, because in a large scale a clear rim is easier to see. Soak one piece at a time, let it rest and carry it over to the model with a layer of water under the film. Strongly shaped areas, such as the fin transition or the radome, are better handled by a decal softener in two light doses than in one heavy one. Once everything has dried completely, clear coat the model.
A decal sheet, not a kit. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
