Masking shapes for the cockpit of the Republic F-84E Thunderjet jet, 1:32 scale. The pattern is derived from the parts of the Hobby Boss kit and is aimed at the outer and the inner face of the glazing.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Thunderjet came about shortly after the war as a heavy single-engine jet aircraft with a classic straight wing. In speed it was no match for the MiGs, but it carried a load the lighter types did not dream of, and in Korea it flew the overwhelming majority of the strike tasks of the US Air Force. The E version was given a stronger engine, a strengthened airframe and a radar ranging unit in the nose. The aircraft also became known for being the first jet type able to refuel in flight in ordinary service. Its nickname was earned from the ground crews, who were worried by its long takeoff run on short field runways.
The frames on this type are very narrow converted to scale, and it is precisely at them that bled paint most often appears. There is a precaution that pays off: once the film is stuck on, the whole part is gone over with a very weak coat of clear varnish. That runs exactly into the gap between the vinyl and the plastic and once dry it closes it. The subsequent coat of color then has nowhere to bleed, because the only route under the edge is filled with clear varnish, which on glass disturbs nobody. The coat has to be really weak, otherwise a ridge of its own forms at the edge.
A kit of the aircraft is a separate item in the range.
