A set of decals in 1:32 for the F4F-4 Wildcat fighter with five combat finishes from 1942 and 1943.
Responsibility details are not available.
The F4F-4 was the folding variant of the American carrier fighter, on which the wing could be folded along the fuselage so that considerably more aircraft fitted on a deck. It was paid for with an increase in weight and a slight loss of agility, and yet it was this very version that bore the onslaught of the Japanese forces at Midway, over Guadalcanal and during the landings in North Africa.
Two variants of the same aircraft, the white 2 and the black 13, belong to Marine Captain Marion Carl of squadron VMF-223 from Guadalcanal. Next comes the machine marked 41-F-1 of VF-41, commanded by Lieutenant Commander Booth from the deck of the carrier Ranger, and the aircraft 9-F-1 of VF-9 flown by John Raby from the same ship during Operation Torch. The fifth option is the white 18 of Howard Packett of VF-6 from the deck of the Enterprise.
The decals are printed in register, so the colored areas and the thin outlines sit on one another with no shift. It is recommended to soak them only briefly in warm water and to move them off the backing paper with a brush so that the thin motifs do not wrinkle. On the broken surfaces around the exhausts and the panel lines a decal softener helps.
