Masks for the canopy glazing and the national insignia of the Vought Corsair carrier fighter in the variant with the revised canopy, 1:32 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
A huge propeller more than four meters across forced the inverted gull wing shaped like a W, so that the landing gear legs did not have to be impossibly long. The 1D variant received a sliding canopy without cross framing in place of the earlier birdcage arrangement, a raised seat and underwing racks for bombs or drop tanks. This was the version the Marines and the Army flew in the closing phase of the war in the Pacific.
In 1:32 scale a model of this aircraft spans around 38 centimeters, a size that still fits an ordinary display case. In 1:24 it would be over forty centimeters and the demand for space climbs steeply. At the same time 1:32 is still large enough for masks to pay off: the canopy frames are easy to follow, yet already so fine that a brush handles them only with difficulty.
Decals are not part of this item, so the fine markings have to come from another source. What the sheet does bring are the cut frames and three insignia stencils for spraying, which is the cleaner way to render a star in a circle.
Before the aircraft could operate from ships it had to overcome hard touchdowns, a poor view over the long nose and a tendency to bounce off the deck. A reworked landing gear leg and a longer tailwheel helped, and only then did the machine become the archetypal carrier fighter. What matters for the model is the stance on the ground, which tends to be strikingly tall on this design, and the raised pilot seat, thanks to which more of the masked cockpit remains visible than is usual on other aircraft.
