Pre-cut self-adhesive painting masks for a model of the fighter Focke-Wulf Fw 190 A-8 in 1:32 scale. The package contains no plastic parts - the set serves for masking the transparent parts of a kit you have already bought and is cut to its particular shapes.
The Fw 190 A-8 was a single-seat fighter with the BMW 801 radial engine. Against the earlier series it was given an additional internal fuel tank behind the cabin and a reworked arrangement of the armament. The design was distinguished by the wide track of the main undercarriage, a one-piece sliding canopy and a clear layout of the instruments. The type went through a whole range of production subversions during manufacture, differing in armament and equipment.
The 1:32 scale is merciless to a modeler: the frames of the canopy are so large here that the viewer will see them from half a meter away and every uneven edge shows. That is exactly why a pre-cut mask pays off the most - a hand-cut strip of tape over a millimeter wide bends and ripples, whereas a template holds its shape. Before sticking them on, polish the transparent part with a fine polishing paste and, if need be, dip it in clear varnish, so that the glass is perfectly transparent; only then mask it. Apply the paint in two or three thin layers and let them dry properly in between. In a large scale it pays to set the frames apart in shade as well: the inner side in the interior color, the outer side in the camouflage.
The set is an accessory to a plastic kit, which it does not contain. Paints and glue are not included in the package.
