What the set contains

Figures of a crew of two of the Luftwaffe and with them ejection seats for the model of the Panavia Tornado aircraft in the IDS and ECR versions in 1:32 scale. The crew consists of a pilot and a second member, given in the name as the operator, who sits behind the pilot. The seats supplied together with the figures make it possible to fit the cockpit as a whole, so you do not have to put the figures into the seats from the kit.

The real subject

The Panavia Tornado is a two-seat combat aircraft with a variable-geometry wing. The IDS version is intended for attacking ground targets, the ECR version is adapted for the suppression of air defenses and for reconnaissance of the electronic environment. Both versions served with the Luftwaffe and their crews wore a full-face helmet with an oxygen mask and a seat harness.

Building and painting tips

Try the figures together with the seats dry in the cockpit first; the space tends to be cramped and the seat has to fit into it together with the figure. Paint them off the model and fit them only at the end, otherwise you will dirty them during the rest of the work. Before painting, wash and degrease the parts and use a primer that suits the material, so that the paint holds. The helmet, the mask and the straps of the harness are what the viewer sees first, so concentrate the main effort on them.

Who the set is for

It suits modelers who are building a Tornado with an open cockpit or who place the model in a scene on an airfield apron. A crew in the cockpit gives the model scale, and the view into the otherwise empty space under the canopy becomes interesting at once.
