The fourth part of a series of self-adhesive stencils intended for painting a model of the British Gloster Gladiator biplane in 1:32 scale. The product is a modeling accessory, not a kit, and it is not a set of canopy masks either. The stencils make it possible to spray the color markings directly onto the surface of the model. The set is designed for the ICM kit.
The most delicate moment of the whole job comes after the spraying. Remove the mask while the paint is not yet fully dry, because a cured film tears along the edge and peels away with the tape. Pull slowly, back over itself at a sharp angle, not straight up. If a small ridge appears along the edge, level it with very fine abrasive paper or a polishing stick and go over the area with a thin coat of clear. When everything is done, unify the surface with a matte or satin clear coat so that the sprayed markings blend optically with the paint around them. Any small corrections can be touched in with a brush before the weathering starts.
The Gloster Gladiator had a metal frame with mostly fabric covering, a fixed landing gear with spatted wheels and interplane struts with bracing wires. It is exactly this combination of shapes that makes the model in a large scale a rewarding object, but a demanding one as far as the finish is concerned.
The set is a painting accessory, not a kit. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
