Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of a stand-alone model of the Hispano-Suiza 8A aircraft engine in 1:32 scale from Roden. It is not an aircraft model but a faithful model of the engine itself, of the kind fitted to Allied fighters of the First World War. The set usually holds photo-etched parts and its own stand, so the finished engine can be displayed as a separate showpiece.
The Hispano-Suiza 8 was a water-cooled V8 designed by Marc Birkigt, which from 1915 became one of the most widespread Allied aircraft engines. It powered fighters such as the SPAD and the S.E.5a and was used by the air forces of France, Britain, Italy and Russia. The 8A version gave about 150 horsepower and became known for the reliability and smooth running with which it stood out in its day.
Cut out and clean up the small parts carefully and glue them with liquid modeling cement for plastic; fix the photo-etched elements with cyanoacrylate glue. Spray the engine block in metal shades and distinguish the individual materials (steel, brass, aluminum), and bring out the joints and recesses with a dark wash. Dry-brushing will pick out the edges of the cooling jackets and the valve gear; the finished engine then stands out on the enclosed stand.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
