The real subject

The Ju 88 was a German twin-engine combat aircraft of the Second World War and was among the most universal machines of its day: it served as a bomber, a reconnaissance machine and a night fighter. Its striking feature is the heavily glazed nose in which the whole crew sits together, and the slender engine nacelles carried by the wing. The A-4 form is among the most widespread production versions of the bomber variant; against the older machines it was given a greater wingspan and a strengthened structure.

What the sheet offers

A separate decal sheet in 1:32 for this type. Which machines are worked out on it, what national insignia, codes and lettering they carry and exactly where the individual items belong is stated in the instructions supplied by the manufacturer. A large scale suits decals: the lettering and the maintenance markings are legible and make sense even at small sizes, but at the same time every deviation in placement shows, so it pays to work one item at a time.

How to apply the decals

• give the surface a clear gloss coat beforehand, as a matte base turns white around the film
• cut the item out as close to the edge as possible and soak it briefly in lukewarm water
• wait until the film releases on the paper and offer the item up to the spot together with the paper
• slide the paper out, straighten the position with a brush and draw the surplus water off
• on a broken surface a decal softener helps, and once dry give the surface a clear coat
