1:32 Kawasaki Ki-61-I Ko/Otsu/Hei Hien is a Dead Design masking set for the exterior frames of the canopy. An accessory for a model, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of pre-cut masks for the outer side of the canopy glazing of a model in 1:32 scale. The name makes clear that these are masks for the exterior frames, that is, for a clean edge on the side a viewer has in front of them on a finished model. It relates to the Ki-61-I Ko, Otsu and Hei versions. It is not a model of the aircraft but an accessory for the painting stage.
The Kawasaki Ki-61 Hien was a fighter of the Japanese Army Air Force in the Second World War and was one of the exceptions among Japanese types, because it had a liquid-cooled V engine instead of the usual radial. Hence its slender nose and different silhouette. The Ko, Otsu and Hei versions differed above all in armament. In 1:32 a model shows those differences in detail, so the canopy too has strongly structured frames.
In a large scale a mask is bigger and easier to handle, but at the same time the area where paint can run underneath grows. Degrease the glazing with a mild detergent before applying and let it dry completely, as a mask will not hold on a greasy surface. Once it is applied, run a wooden stick around the whole perimeter, especially where a frame runs over a curve. Seal the edge with a thin pass of the interior color or of gloss varnish, which closes any leaky border. Only then spray the covering shade.
This is an accessory for a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
