A sheet of decals in 1:32 for the Messerschmitt Bf 109E-4 with five commanders' machines from the fighting over France in 1940.
Responsibility details are not available.
You will know the E-4 version of the Emil by its flat, uncurved cockpit glazing and reworked wing armament. It was with this version that the German fighter wings flew the spring and summer of 1940, that is the campaign in France and the first phase of the combats over the English Channel, when pronounced colored markings on noses and rudders began to appear on the commanders' machines.
The set is built on commanders' aircraft. The best known of them belonged to Major Adolf Galland of JG 26 and carried the commander's chevron markings; from the same wing comes the yellow 1 of First Lieutenant Gerhard Schoepfel of August and September 1940. Further subjects are the machine of Captain Hans von Hahn of the I. Gruppe of JG 3, the staff aircraft of the III. Gruppe of JG 1 of June 1940 and the machine of Major Erich Mix, commander of the III. Gruppe of JG 2, of May that year.
Besides the decals the package holds a stencil for spraying the cockpit frames. The thin carrier film of the decals is designed so that, once a softener has been applied, it follows even the pronounced overlaps of sheet metal and the riveted seams that are clearly apparent at this scale. The motifs are cut out of the sheet one at a time.
