A decal sheet in 1:32 scale from the Czech manufacturer DK Decals. It is focused on Republic P-47D fighters used in the Pacific theater and is part one of this series. The sheet contains only decals; plastic parts and a kit are not part of it. The specific machines and their number are given on the packaging.
The P-47D Thunderbolt was a single-engine fighter with a Pratt & Whitney R-2800 radial engine supplemented by a turbocharger in the lower part of the fuselage. It was one of the heaviest single-engine fighters of its day, had eight 12.7 mm machine guns and was known for the toughness of its structure, thanks to which it also did well in attacks on ground targets. In the Pacific it was valued mainly for its range and its ability to make long flights over water. Watch out for one thing when choosing: version D existed both in the earlier form with a raised fuselage spine and in the later one with a bubble canopy. Check beforehand which form the markings shown are intended for.
In 1:32 scale you work with large pieces of artwork, and those forgive the fewest mistakes. Divide long bands and extensive numbers and apply them in sections, otherwise they will break while you move them. Put a generous drop of water under the decal so that it slides freely, and press the excess out with a soft cloth always from the center toward the edges. Trim the clear film as close to the artwork as possible, because on a large area its glossy border shows after matting. On the riveted, heavily engraved surfaces of the Thunderbolt use a stronger decal softener and let the decal set without interference until it draws itself down into the recesses. Only then comes the weathering and the final clear coat.
Decals are an accessory for a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
