Aerobonus 1:32 Russian pilot of the Second World War is a resin figure meant to bring a model aircraft or a diorama to life.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin figure from the Aerobonus line made by the Czech producer Aires. It represents a pilot of the Soviet Air Force from the period of the Second World War in period flying kit. The casting is unpainted and before use it is assembled from several parts, usually the torso and separately cast limbs and head. In the large 1:32 scale the rendering of the folds of the clothing, of the straps and of the face is clearly visible, so the figure stands up to a close look and gives a display scene both scale and a human dimension.
The flying kit of pilots of the Second World War was adapted to operating in unheated and poorly sealed cockpits. Typical equipment was a leather or canvas flight suit, a flying helmet with goggles, gloves and high boots, and with them a parachute harness with straps running across the chest and the thighs. The form of the kit differed by season and by whether the unit was a fighter, a ground-attack or a bomber one. A figure placed beside a model aircraft is the quickest way to show a viewer the real size of the machine.
First wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water, so that the mold release agent is removed. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw, level the surfaces with abrasive paper used wet and protect your airways when sanding resin. Try the fit of the arms and the head dry and look for a natural stance; fill the seams. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Start the painting with a primer, build the skin from a base tone through shadows to fine highlights, and on the fabric use a combination of glazes and a dry brush, so that the folds stand out.
The figure is supplied unpainted and unassembled, and it is an accessory to a model. Paints and glue are not included in the package.
