Before you reach for the first piece, a decision is made that will determine the use of half the box: will the cockpit be closed or slid back? With the canopy closed only the outer pieces go on the model and the inner ones stay lying on the sheet. With the cockpit slid back the frame looks both inwards and outwards and both find use.
In a large scale the whole interior reads clearly through the clear parts: the tubular frame, the grab handle, the lever for the emergency jettison and the armor plate behind the pilot's head. A model with the cockpit closed looks empty and a viewer notices that sooner than perfect camouflage. A set that masks both faces is built precisely for the open variant.
The inner pieces first, then spraying in the interior shade, then gluing the clear parts into the fuselage and only at the end the outer pieces and the exterior camouflage. Anyone who reverses the order ends up touching the frames up with a brush over a finished coat, and everyone spots the result at first glance.
A pair of stencils allows the circular insignia to be sprayed. On the British gray-green camouflage of the late war it shows: an applied insignia keeps a thin glossy rim even after a matte overcoat, whereas a sprayed one merges with the surface entirely. The supplementary decals in the box carry the serial letters and small inscriptions. Polish the spot for them with a gloss coat so that no silvery specks settle under the film, and even the finished markings out at the end with a matte overcoat. Try the ring on a piece of plastic beforehand, so that you know how long the paint takes to dry.
