A set of color decals with a relief layer that replace the seat belts in the cabin of a model of the American Boeing B-17G bomber in 1:32 scale. These are not photo-etched parts and not an aircraft model. The decal is printed in full color and carries its own raised layer, so the strap has thickness, the buckles catch the light and the whole thing reads as fabric rather than as a printed picture. It is applied the wet way like an ordinary decal.
On a fighter you see one seat; in a Flying Fortress there are several, in the glazed nose, in the pilots' cabin and at the gun positions, and all of them are clearly visible through the extensive glazing. Seat belts are, moreover, a detail that even people who know nothing about aircraft notice on a finished model, because they differ in color and in texture from the surrounding metal. In the large 1:32 scale they also cannot be faked with a flat decal, so the raised layer makes sense here.
The surface must be smooth and glossy, otherwise matte edges will appear under the film. Soak the decal only briefly, just until it releases from the backing, and move it with a soft brush or bamboo tweezers. Metal tweezers easily dent the relief layer. The manufacturer does not recommend using decal softeners; the raised layer does not need them and they could damage it. If you need to fix the belts more firmly or fold them over the edge of a seat, apply a little thinned PVA glue to the spot. Apply a gloss clear coat before weathering.
The set contains decals only. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
