A decal sheet with a four-color lozenge pattern in its full width, printed on white decal paper and intended for rib tapes on models in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
German aircraft of the end of the First World War had fabric covering with a printed camouflage pattern known as the lozenge. It is made up of regular polygons in several colors, here in a four-color treatment. The seams over the wing ribs were taped over with narrow strips of the same cloth, so the pattern continued across them too. It is exactly these rib tapes that the sheet is intended for.
The pattern is printed in its full width, so you cut the tapes to the length and the direction you need and do not have to assemble them from small scraps. Printing on white decal paper holds the colors of the pattern independent of the shade beneath it. How many tapes the sheet yields depends on how wide you cut them and what span your model has.
First clear coat the surface to a gloss, so that no air bubbles are left under the film. Cut the tapes with a sharp blade along a rule, soak them one at a time in lukewarm water and let them stand for a moment until the film releases from the paper. Transfer them to the model, align them along the rib and blot the surplus water away with a paper towel. A softener will help the film adhere to the surface; apply it sparingly and do not touch the tapes until they are dry. Finally clear coat the whole surface so that the edges of the film disappear. Before you soak the sheet, check in the instructions whether it is a self-adhesive version: a soaked self-adhesive film is ruined.
A decal sheet is supplied. The model, the paints, the clear coat and the softener are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
