This accessory is not a kit. Red Fox Studio prints interior elements in a 3D texture onto decal paper, so a finished instrument panel with dials, shading and lettering is applied to the model as a wet decal. The result is thin, flat and complete in color — you do not have to paint individual instruments or glue layered photo-etched parts.
The Yak-18 is a piston-engined trainer and sporting aircraft with the seats in tandem. That means two separate stations one behind the other and two instrument panels that are not quite the same: the front one tends to be more fully equipped, the rear instructor's one more modest. The instruments are purely analog, with light dials on a dark background, completed by lever controls on the left cockpit sidewall. Because the cabin is glazed along its whole length and the aircraft is often built with parts of the canopy slid back or hinged open, both stations are visible inside at once.
Cut the element out as close as possible along the printed edge and soak it in lukewarm water only until the backing starts to release — an over-soaked decal loses its adhesive and stops holding. Slide the element into place together with its backing and only then draw the backing out from under it; with the sheet still damp you can go on moving it for a while. With two panels one behind the other it is a good idea to start with the rear one: you can still reach the front one with tweezers later, but not the rear one once the fuselage is glued.
This is an accessory to a plastic kit, not a model. Paints, glue and varnish are not included in the package. The set is prepared for the Yak-18 kit from Trumpeter; check that it matches before ordering.
