Responsibility details are not available.
A turned metal part in 1:35 scale from the Polish manufacturer Aber. It replaces the plastic barrel of the howitzer of 114 mm with a length of 18 calibers, which the Finnish assault gun BT-42 carried. This is a detail accessory for a plastic model, not a kit of the vehicle in its own right.
The BT-42 was a Finnish improvised conversion of captured Soviet fast tanks of the BT family. On their chassis a tall angular turret was built, into which the Finns fitted an older howitzer of British origin of 114 mm. The vehicle was to serve as mobile fire support for the infantry, but against the armored vehicles of the day it proved of little effect and its use was limited. The long thin barrel protruding from the massive turret gives the vehicle an unmistakable silhouette and is a rewarding place for a metal replacement.
Cut off the plastic barrel as close to the mantlet as possible and level the cut, so that the turned part seats squarely. Degrease the metal with alcohol before gluing and roughen it lightly; glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Lay a primer suitable for metals onto the metal, or the paint will hold poorly. The muzzle of the barrel is drilled, so it pays to pick it out only gently with a dark wash after spraying.
This is a detail accessory, not a complete model. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
