A turned metal 150 mm barrel with a muzzle brake for the Krupp turret of the German E-100 heavy tank in 1:35 scale from the maker Aber. A replacement for the plastic part from a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory in 1:35 scale from the Polish maker Aber that replaces the plastic barrel from a kit with a precisely machined metal part. It is not a tank kit but a single part: a turned barrel has a perfectly circular cross-section and a cleanly drilled muzzle, and it calls for no gluing of halves and no sanding of a seam, which on plastic barrels usually destroys the fine engraving.
The E-100 was among the German heavy tank projects of the end of the Second World War. Work stopped at the stage of a partly built hull, and neither the turret nor the armament went into series production. The turret designed by the Krupp design office with a 150 mm gun stayed at the level of a project, so models of this machine are a reconstruction of an unrealized design, not a model of a surviving vehicle. For a modeler that means freer scope in the matter of coloring and markings, but also the need to take the details of the shape as an interpretation.
The opening in the turret mantlet tends to be narrower on plastic kits than the metal part needs, so widen it carefully with a round file and keep trying the fit. Glue the barrel with super glue or epoxy and watch that it sits on the centerline and does not point upward. Degrease the metal before painting and use a base coat intended for metal surfaces, or the paint will not hold on the smooth surface. Darken the muzzle and the muzzle brake, and a fine wear and traces of dust then look natural on the barrel.
The accessory is not a model in itself. It is supplied unpainted; paints, glue and the base kit are not included in the package.
