This item is not a kit of a tank but a detail set for modelers. It replaces the road wheels from the box with more exactly shaped castings and, according to the name of the product, it contains a complete 14 wheels, that is, the full number for one model. The set deals with one particular execution of the wheel from the M60 family, which the manufacturer designates as type 1.
The M60 is an American main battle tank of the postwar generation, following on in design from the M48 series. In various versions and upgrades it served for decades with the American army and with a number of other users. The road wheels of this family differed during production both in the execution of the disc and in the material used: besides heavier steel wheels, lighter aluminum ones were used as well. The difference is clearly apparent on a model, because the wheels are among the most visible elements of the running gear, and modelers therefore commonly change them according to the particular version and period.
First clear the castings of their casting blocks and level the cut area with a file, so that the wheel seats perpendicular on the axle spigot. Before painting, wash the parts with lukewarm water and dish soap and let them dry thoroughly, otherwise the paint will not hold on residues of release agent. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue, because ordinary cement for plastic does not work on this material. It is practical to paint the wheels separately from the hull, finish the rubber tires with a brush in a dark shade and only at the end even the whole running gear out with a breath of dust and pigments. We recommend gluing the wheels on together with the tracks, so that you keep control of their sag.
This is an accessory to a kit, not a standalone model. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
