1:35 Aufklarungpanzer 38(t) Sd.Kfz.140/1

Aber 1:35 detail set for the Aufklärungspanzer 38(t) Sd.Kfz. 140/1

A detail set intended for refining a model of the German light reconnaissance vehicle Aufklärungspanzer 38(t). Sets of this type hold photo-etched metal parts for the fenders, the brackets and clasps for the tools, the engine compartment covers, details of the open turret and other small fittings of the hull. It is an accessory for a plastic kit in 1:35 scale you have already bought, and not a model of a vehicle in its own right.

The real subject

The Aufklärungspanzer 38(t) was a German light tracked reconnaissance vehicle built on the proven 38(t) chassis. It carried an open-topped turret with a 20 mm automatic cannon and was intended for rapid reconnaissance and for escorting armored units in the closing stage of the Second World War. The number built was fairly small, which makes it an interesting and, among modelers, less usual subject. The open turret means that you can see inside on a model, and detail there pays off.

Building and painting tips

First remove the plastic originals, level the surfaces, and only then glue the metal on. Separate the photo-etched parts with a scalpel on a hard surface, make the bends in a bending tool and hold small pieces with tweezers. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) onto a degreased surface. Paint and weather the inside of the open turret before you close it in with the surrounding parts. Before painting, spray the whole model with a primer.

Who the set is for

• Modelers building German light reconnaissance vehicles
• Enthusiasts of vehicles built on the 38(t) chassis
• Builders who care about the detail of an open turret
• Modelers with experience of photo-etched sets

The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. It is a detail accessory for a plastic kit, not a model in its own right. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
