The barrel of the German 8.8 cm Kw.K 43 (L/71) gun for the Tiger B with the Porsche turret, late version, is a turned metal Aber detail set in 1:35 scale. It is not a tank kit but a replacement barrel for refining the Takom kit.

This turned metal barrel from the Polish manufacturer Aber in 1:35 scale replaces the plastic barrel part of the Tiger B heavy tank fitted with the Porsche-designed turret in its late version. The metal part is made on a lathe, so it has no mold parting seam, it has an exactly round cross-section and a drilled muzzle. The set is intended as an accessory for the Takom kit and does not include the vehicle model itself.
The Tiger B, also known as the Koenigstiger, was the heaviest German tank to see series service in the Second World War. The first vehicles built carried the Porsche-designed turret with a rounded front and a bulged mantlet; only later was it replaced by a turret with a vertical front. The main armament was the 8.8 cm Kw.K 43 gun with a barrel length of 71 calibers, one of the most effective anti-tank weapons of its day thanks to its high muzzle velocity and flat trajectory.
The turned barrel is fitted in place of the plastic part, which usually has to be cut off, with the hole in the mantlet or shield carefully opened up with a round file. It is bonded with super glue or two-part epoxy, and on heavier parts it is worth reinforcing the joint. Degrease the metal with alcohol before painting and apply a primer, otherwise the paint holds poorly. We recommend blackening the barrel muzzle and giving the inside a light matting; the outer surface takes gentle drybrushing with a metallic pigment and wear around the muzzle well.
This is a detail set, not a vehicle model. The base kit, glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
