An injection-molded plastic kit of the British Chieftain Mk.11 main battle tank in 1:35 scale from the manufacturer Takom. It is a new tooling with photo-etched metal, individual track links and decals for several British vehicles. The Mk.11 is one of the late upgrades of the Chieftain; Takom's range also includes the different Mk.5/P and Mk.10 versions, which differ in equipment and markings, so check which variant you want to build.
The Chieftain was a British main battle tank taken into service in 1967, in its day one of the most heavily armed and best armored tanks of NATO. It carried a 120 mm gun and was marked by a markedly sloped turret front and a reclining driving position. Successive upgrades brought new night vision equipment, armor and a more reliable powertrain; the Mk.11 represents one of the late British service versions.
Work with liquid cement for plastic and glue the photo-etched parts with super glue. First finish and paint the running gear and the interior visible through the open hatches. Assemble the individual track links patiently. Apply a primer before painting and spray with an airbrush; a patina of dust and mud with washes and pigments suits British Cold War equipment, especially on the running gear and the side skirts.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
