This is a turned metal barrel from the Polish manufacturer Aber, not a model of a tank. It replaces the plastic barrel of the British QF 6-pounder gun of 57 mm in the Mk.V version on models of the Centaur and Cromwell tanks. Metal keeps a perfectly straight shape, the muzzle is precisely drilled and it does away with the laborious sanding of the mold seam that every plastic barrel made of two halves has.
The British QF 6-pounder 57 mm gun was among the main anti-tank weapons of the British army of the Second World War and it was also built into cruiser tanks. Compared with the older Mk.III form, the Mk.V version had a lengthened barrel, thanks to which it reached a higher muzzle velocity and better penetrating power. The longer barrel is at the same time the most conspicuous external difference between the two versions.
As a rule it is enough to seat the metal barrel in place of the plastic part in the gun collar, adjusting the diameter of the spigot slightly if need be. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Degrease the metal before painting and go over it with a primer. Pick out the muzzle of the barrel gently at the end with a dark shade so that the drilled opening stands out.
An accessory for a plastic kit. The model itself, glue and paints are not included in the package.
