The set from ELEFANT is an addition to a model, not the model itself. It aims at the early versions of the German medium tank Pz.Kpfw. III, specifically the Ausf. E and F configurations, and according to the name the contents are enough for two vehicles. Anyone building several models of the same type side by side or preparing a column for a diorama therefore gets parts for both hulls in a single package. The exact make-up of the set is stated on the box.
The early versions of the Pz.Kpfw. III have a number of features that injection-molded plastic simplifies: mountings and brackets for external stowage, small covers, hinges and other thin-walled detail. A casting out of a mold is necessarily heavier than reality, and some shapes do not come out of a mold at all. A resin addition deals with that difference, because it is cast by a different technology and takes a finer rendering. On a finished model it shows above all in the outline of the edges and in the fact that the added feature can be looked at from every side without reading as coarse. Distinguishing by version matters here too: between the individual Ausf. of this type there are real differences in detail, and the set is cut for the Ausf. E and F in particular.
Wash the castings in lukewarm water with detergent and let them dry, otherwise the paint will flake off whatever mold release agent is left. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a sharp knife and sand the surface back wet with protection for your breathing; sanding resin dry raises needless dust. Glue with super glue, as cement for plastic does not take on resin. Fit the set before you close the model up and paint it, so that the feature gets under the common primer and all the surfaces age the same way. Sort the small parts out onto a light surface beforehand, so that they do not get lost.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted and is not a model of a vehicle. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. Check that it matches your own kit.
