The 1:35 FAMO wheel masking set from the Quickwheel company makes it possible to spray the rubber on the wheels separately from the disk without drawing around by hand. The cut-outs are cut for the wheels from the kit of the Tamiya company.

This is a masking aid for the build, not a model. The self-adhesive masks block out the center of a wheel, so that during spraying only the rubber stays exposed. The boundary between the two colors then arises exactly around the perimeter of the cut-out. The set is cut for the wheels from the kit of the Tamiya company, and with another mold the shape needs comparing beforehand.
The heavy half-track tractor FAMO is rewarding exactly because it has both kinds of wheel on it at once, and each is painted differently. The front steered wheels are classic road wheels: the tire has a tread pattern, a sidewall and a clearly readable rim, the rubber forms a large continuous area and is masked similarly to that of a truck. The road wheels of the tracked part, by contrast, carry only a narrow rubber tire around the perimeter, which bears against the inside of the track; their disk is typically visible in full and the area of rubber is comparatively small. In practice that means two things. First, on the tracked part the precision of the circle matters much more, because the band of rubber is narrow and every hesitation is visible. Second, the front tires got dirty differently in service, so there is no point toning them exactly the same as the tires of the road wheels.
Leave the wheels separate from the hull and paint them in series. Place the mask dry, check the alignment and only then press it down. Apply the paint onto the rubber thinly, so that it does not run under the margin of the mask.
The package holds masking masks, not parts of a model. Paints, thinners and glue are not included in the delivery.
