Turned barrel of the French 105 mm CN-105-F1 tank gun of 56 calibers in length, 1:35 scale from Aber. A metal replacement for the plastic barrel on models of French tanks.
Responsibility details are not available.
A turned metal part in 1:35 scale from the Polish manufacturer Aber. It replaces the plastic barrel of the French 105 mm tank gun designated CN-105-F1, which is 56 calibers long. It is not a vehicle kit but a detail accessory for a plastic model.
The 105 mm CN-105-F1 gun was the main armament of the French postwar AMX-30 tank and of the versions derived from it. It was a French design optimized for shaped-charge ammunition, whose effect did not depend on impact velocity. The vehicle itself was designed with the emphasis on mobility and a low silhouette rather than on heavy armor, and in various versions it served for decades with the French army and with foreign users. The barrel with its thermal sleeve and fume extractor is a striking feature, and in plastic it always carries a trace of the parting line.
Cut the plastic barrel off as close to the mantlet as possible and level the cut, so that the turned part seats squarely. Degrease the metal with alcohol before gluing, scuff it lightly and bond it with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Apply a primer suitable for metal, otherwise the paint holds poorly. The barrel muzzle is drilled, so once it is sprayed it pays to bring it out only gently with a dark wash.
This is a detail accessory, not a complete model. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
