After the defeat of France in 1940 the German army acquired a large quantity of French armored vehicles. It carried the Hotchkiss light tanks under the designation 38H and converted some of them for the artillery. Vehicles modified in this way carried observers, who watched targets from a forward position and directed the fire of the batteries, and they stayed in German service for the whole of the rest of the war. What came about was a vehicle with a French chassis and German equipment, that is a rewarding subject for modelers with an interest in captured hardware.
A plastic kit in 1:35 scale, supplied unassembled and unpainted. The parts are held on sprues; the builder cuts them off, cleans them up, glues them and paints them according to the enclosed instructions.
Assemble the running gear with its small wheels on a flat surface, so that the vehicle sits level and the track runs without a wave in it. Fill the seams of the superstructure and sand them over; flat surfaces forgive nothing. Leave the small parts until the end of the build. German finishes changed in the course of the war, so keep to the list in the instructions; depth is added by picking the shadows out around the hatches, lightening the horizontal surfaces and dusting the running gear and the bottom of the hull.
The set will please collectors of German Second World War hardware as well as builders of dioramas who can use a less usual vehicle on a captured chassis. Paints, glue, filler and other material are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
