The German 75 mm barrel for the PaK 40, middle model is a turned metal accessory in 1:35 scale from the Polish manufacturer Aber. It replaces the plastic barrel from a kit of the antitank gun; it is not a model and not a kit.

This is a replacement barrel machined from metal, intended for models of the German 75 mm antitank gun in 1:35 scale. The words middle model refer to a production form that differs from the early and the late one in the shape of the muzzle brake and in details of the barrel. It is not a kit and not a model but an upgrade accessory for a modeler who wants to replace a plastic part with a more accurate and cleaner metal one. The number of pieces and the material are given on the packaging.
A plastic barrel has two weaknesses from the factory: a parting seam from the mold, which has to be laboriously sanded away without spoiling the cylindrical shape, and a muzzle, which is usually solid and has to be drilled out. A turned metal part solves both of these from the start. It is symmetrical along its whole length, it has a realistic wall thickness at the muzzle and it will not bend or break off while the model is being handled. On long gun barrels the weight of the metal itself also tells, as it holds the shape without sagging. The difference shows above all when seen from the front and in close-up photography.
Before gluing, degrease the metal part with alcohol or mineral spirits, otherwise the paint will not hold on the smooth surface. Seating it in the mantlet or the gun shield usually calls for slightly widening the opening; go in small steps and keep testing dry. Glue with super glue; plastic cement does not hold on metal. Then apply a good base, ideally a spray primer intended for metal, otherwise the paint comes off during handling. The muzzle and the muzzle brake deserve a darker shade and fine picking out of wear, and the whole surface should then be tied in with the rest of the vehicle or the carriage so that the barrel does not look like a foreign part stuck on.
This is a separate accessory. A kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
