An Aber turned metal barrel in 1:35 scale for the German 75 mm Pak 40 anti-tank gun in the early form. The detail accessory replaces the plastic barrel from the kit and brings the exact shape of the muzzle brake as well as a drilled muzzle. This is not a kit of a gun.
The 75 mm Pak 40 was from 1942 the main German anti-tank gun and it replaced the weaker 50 mm gun. It was produced in large numbers and committed both in towed form and as the armament of the self-propelled tank destroyers of the Marder family and of other improvised designs on captured and home chassis alike. During production it went through small changes, among others in the form of the muzzle brake. This set matches the early version, which was carried by the first pieces built.
The metal barrel is fitted in place of the plastic part. Cut off the plastic barrel, level the seating surface and try the part dry first for the axis and the depth of seating. Use cyanoacrylate glue or a two-part epoxy; plastic cement has nothing to dissolve here. Degrease the metal and go over it with a primer for metal, or the paint will not hold on the smooth surface. Filling and sanding the mold seam and drilling the muzzle of the barrel fall away.
This is a supplementary detail set for modelers, not a kit. The model itself, glue and paints are not included in the package.
