An add-on set of sixty cast late-type stowage hooks in 1:35 scale from ELEFANT. It is neither a kit nor a model: it is a stock of small parts with which the simplified hooks on the hull and the turret of a built model are replaced. The base model is not included in the package. The material of the castings is not stated here in more detail, and neither are the particular vehicles the hooks are meant for.
Hooks are among the smallest external features of a vehicle and at the same time among the most conspicuous when a model is seen from above. In injection molding they usually come out as a solid, thickened shape with no opening; a cast replacement gives the hook the right thickness and a legible section. Sixty pieces mean that the set covers several vehicles at once and that there is a reserve left over for the ones that end up on the floor during gluing. The manufacturer also has an early-type version and versions meant for individual vehicles in the same line, so it is worth choosing by the form your vehicle actually had.
Wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water and let them dry thoroughly. When cutting them off, work with a new blade over a light surface and pick the individual pieces up with tweezers; with a part this size a lost hook is hard to find. Cut off the original molded hooks and sand the area smooth. They are bonded with super glue, ideally a drop carried on a pin so that the glue does not run into the surroundings. Fit the hooks before the primer goes on, so that they get the same undercoat as the rest of the vehicle. Once painted, they benefit from a dark wash into the root and a fine chipping on the upper edge, where bare metal would shine most.
This is an accessory for modifying a model, not a standalone kit. The base model, glue, paints and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
