An injection-molded plastic kit of the German tank destroyer Marder III Ausf.M in 1:35 scale from Tamiya, in an edition set on the Normandy front of 1944. Besides the vehicle itself the box contains crew figures, which make it easy to build a scene with life in it. The model faithfully captures the layout with a centrally mounted engine and an open fighting superstructure at the rear. The kit is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The Marder III Ausf.M was an improvised German tank destroyer of the Second World War, mounting the powerful 7.5 cm Pak 40/3 anti-tank gun on the chassis of the proven light tank Pz.38(t). The M designation (Mitte) refers to the centrally mounted engine, which moved the crew and the gun into an open superstructure at the rear of the vehicle. These vehicles gave the infantry mobile anti-tank fire support and were used, among other places, in Normandy in the defense against the advancing Allied forces.
Use liquid modeling cement for plastic. The open fighting superstructure is on view, so finish and paint the details of the gun breech, the ammunition stowage and the inside of the superstructure before you close the assembly up. Paint the running gear and the tracks separately. Lay the base down with an airbrush, add washes into the recesses and a dry brush on the edges; mud and dust effects on the running gear and the underside are finished with pigments. Paint the figures separately and set them into the scene only once the vehicle is done.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
