A turned metal barrel in 1:35 scale from the Polish manufacturer Aber, made as a two-piece one, that is, with a divided barrel tube, as matches the later design of the 88 mm KwK 43 L/71 gun. The set is intended for models of the standard tank E-50. This is not a model of a vehicle but a detail accessory, which replaces the plastic barrel with an accurate metal part with a hollow muzzle.
The E-50 was part of the German Entwicklung development series, whose aim at the end of the Second World War was to simplify and unify the production of armored vehicles. It stayed only a project, though, and no series piece came about. The 88 mm KwK 43 L/71 gun came from the Tiger II and the Jagdpanther and was among the most effective German tank weapons. Its divided form came about so that the worn front section of the barrel could be replaced without having to change the whole tube.
Cut off the plastic barrel at the root, clean out the opening in the mantlet or the shield and push the metal part home. Degrease the metal with alcohol before gluing and roughen the mating surfaces lightly; it is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Lay a base coat meant for metals onto the metal parts, or the paint will hold poorly. The hollow muzzle stands out when you darken it lightly from inside with a soot shade. When putting the two-piece barrel together, take care that the two parts meet without a kink; the joint can be sanded gently once dry, so that only the dividing ring, which the real subject did have, stays visible.
This is a detail accessory, not a complete model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
