An injection-molded plastic kit model of the Italian C1 Ariete main battle tank in the form with add-on (additional) armor in 1:35 scale from Trumpeter. The model captures the angular turret and the hull with add-on armor panels fitted, which raised the protection of the crew above all on overseas deployments.
The Ariete is the Italian main battle tank and the heaviest tracked equipment of the Italian army. It carries a 120 mm smoothbore gun, a modern fire control system and composite armor. It entered service around the turn of the millennium and was deployed overseas as well, where the addition of add-on armor kits against mines, improvised devices and hand-held anti-tank weapons proved its worth. The additional protection changes the silhouette of the vehicle and adds characteristic panels on the turret and the sides of the hull.
Paint the running gear and the lower hull before the side skirts and the add-on panels cover them. Glue the plastic with thin modeling cement and sand the joints; line the add-on armor up carefully so that it sits on the mounting points. Apply an undercoat (primer) before painting. Apply the modern single-color or desert finish with an airbrush and lighten the upper surfaces slightly. Dust and abrasion on the panels are picked out by final washes and dry pigments.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
