This injection-molded plastic kit from the Japanese manufacturer FineMolds represents the tracked Type 60 armored personnel carrier in 1:35 scale. The model offers a broken-down hull, the running gear and the equipment, and it is meant to be assembled and painted by the builder.
The Type 60 was the first armored personnel carrier developed for the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) after the Second World War. It entered service in the early 1960s and served to carry infantry to the battlefield. It was gradually withdrawn, and its withdrawal was completed in the mid-2000s.
Assemble the running gear and the tracks first (on this type they tend to be individual-link), and only then close up the hull. A uniform olive or a multi-color finish is typical of Japanese hardware and it comes into its own with an airbrush. The weathering and dust are built up with washes and pigments.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
