Aber 1:35 88 mm KwK 36 L/56 barrel for the late Tiger I is a turned metal replacement barrel from the Polish maker Aber for models of the German Tiger I heavy tank of late production in 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
A turned metal barrel in 1:35 scale for the Tiger I heavy tank of late production, not a standalone model. It replaces the plastic barrel of the 88 mm KwK 36 L/56 gun, including the double-baffle muzzle brake. The metal part is perfectly straight, free of the seam from the mold, and the muzzle is drilled out — and it is the dominant barrel that draws the most attention on a Tiger model.
The Tiger I was a German heavy tank of the Second World War armed with the 88 mm KwK 36 gun with a barrel 56 calibers long, derived from an anti-aircraft gun of the same caliber. Late-production vehicles differ from the early ones in one-piece road wheels, a different commander's cupola and details of the hull stowage, among other things. The combination of thick armor and an accurate gun made the Tiger one of the best-known tanks of its day.
The turned metal part is fitted in place of the plastic barrel from the box. The hole in the gun mantlet sometimes has to be opened out carefully with a drill so that the barrel sits without play and exactly on the axis. Glue the metal with cyanoacrylate glue, as plastic cement does not hold on brass. Degrease the surface before painting and go over it with a base coat, otherwise the paint holds badly on smooth metal. Pick out the muzzle with a dark wash and a light touch of a dry brush.
This is a detail accessory, not a standalone model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
